Many thanks to all who travelled over to the far wild west of Shropshire to take part in the club champs and support the opening of the our latest permanent course. The project manager Peter Dunhill was delighted, as we were the first group to make use of the new education room and I think you'll agree it is a pretty special venue. Both ourselves and POW should benefit from schools groups visiting the site in future, directly and indirectly. Most of you found lots of posts and controls (abandoned mine trolley, limekiln, "lost world" knoll, gunpowder room ....the one in the Hoffman kiln was going to be a "surprise" Christmas tree for those wondering why it wasn't on the control descriptions) and judged your times up and down the inclined plane well. There were the usual couple of heroes who took routes I hadn't even considered and spotted potential problems for less experienced orienteers who might do the same when using the area, so thanks for that as we can adjust the map and courses. Santas little (club) helpers were very good as usual, thanks to all of you who helped out. Even the weather was kind to us....I got to put out controls as the sun came up, and collected the last in just as it was setting so enjoyed the best of the views. Lost property : a finger compass, left on the outside windowsill. Can you give me a call if its yours (01743 884219) Enjoy your Christmas and see you all in the New Year Tony Callow
