Organiser's
Comments
At the
end of a sunny day the organiser was seen disappearing in a cloud of blue
smoke! Was this magic? No, simply the
exhaust from his old van! The real magic was how superbly all the Wrekin
helpers did their jobs.
As we
had Pete Jone's very good map from our last Springtime in Shropshire for which
we got many favourable comments, we decided to use the area again, but from the
opposite side. This involved many visits and writing of letters by our able
negotiator Colin Roscoe who also masterminded the critical parking
arrangements. Sandra counted in around 90 cars, which with the caravan, toilets
etc took up the whole of the available space. With the weather in mind, Tony
had a sheltered start area, probably
the only available one on the map. He, Derek and Noreen battled the wet weather
and gathering gloom on Saturday night putting out stakes, then it was up early
with everyone pulling more than their weight to deliver a good event, including
fun for youngsters (and string winders!) on the String Course. Thank you all.

presented his driving licence at the Callow Inn, hoping for a free drink and
was told it guaranteed him a place ..... on the washing up team!)
